Polyxena corymbosa Jessop

  • 1. Department of Botany, Natural History Museum, Cromwell Road, London, UK

Description

Hyacinthus corymbosus Linnaeus, Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 223. 1771.

"Habitat in Cap. b. spei pascuis. Koenig." RCN: 2493.

Neotype (Stearn in Ann. Mus. Goulandris 8: 214, f. 19. 1990): Herb. Linn. No. 438.9 (LINN).

Current name: Polyxena corymbosa (L.) Jessop (Liliaceae/Hyacinthaceae).

Note: Jessop (in J. S. African Bot. 42: 429. 1976) noted that 438.9 (LINN) was unannotated by Linnaeus and did not appear to have come from König so could not be the type. Stearn subsequently designated it as a neotype.
