Taxonomy. First record from Lebanon as Hymenocephalus italicus by Aguillar et al. (2018: 81).
Distribution. Mediterranean Sea, Atlantic; western Indian Ocean.
Conservation. IUCN: Global (LC: 11 July 2012); Med. (LC: 13 November 2007). Capture and threats: Unknown. Occurrence: Very rare. Low priority for conservation action.
