SOME SUGGESTIONS FOR BARRIER-FREE DESIGN OF UNİVERSITIES CAMPUSES; EXAMPLE OF İNÖNÜ UNİVERSITY CAMPUS

In our country, individuals with disabilities have problems in education, training, participation in society, employment and accessibility etc. It faces various problems in many areas. The solution of the problems experienced by people with disabilities depends on increasing the awareness of each individual and the system and performing the necessary studies on this issue correctly and completely. Universities are the most important educational institutions that contribute to individual and social development and play an active role in shaping the future. In this study, the general aim will be to try to reveal how designs can be made by privatizing students with disabilities in universities in line with universal design principles. The study reveals the problems that disabled students at İnönü University face on campus. The method used in the study was the observation technique. In accordance with the purpose of the study, the suitability of the İnönü University campus for the disabled was evaluated with the photos taken on the campus. In the study, it was determined that especially physically disabled people experience various problems in the campus, many of these problems are related to physical conditions, and the attitude of other individuals to students with disabilities is also a factor in the problems experienced. In order for disabled students to get a better university education, the duties and responsibilities of local administrations and universities should be emphasized.
