Anastatus (Anastatus) kashmirensis Mathur 1956
Description
Anastatus (Anastatus) kashmirensis Mathur, 1956
Anastatus kashmirensis Mathur, 1956: 93–96, figs 1–15. Described: both sexes.
Anastatus kashmirensis; Hu et al., 2011: 482–483, fig. 1. Misidentification of A. dexingensis.
Species concept. Our concept of A. kashmirensis is based on the original description plus Hayat (1975) and Narendran (2009).
Regional material examined. None.
Distribution. ORIENTAL: India (Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir) (Noyes 2019).
Remarks. Hu et al. (2011) identified and provided a lateral habitus photograph of a female they identified as A. kashmirensis from Hainan Provence, but a voucher female in IZCAS examined by L. Peng proved to be A. dexingensis. We therefore exclude A. kashmirensis from the fauna of China. Noyes (2019) also listed the United States of America under distribution of this species, but the record was based on Weseloh et al. (1979), who imported the species in quarantine to investigate its potential for biocontrol of the gypsy moth, but explicitly stated that release was considered as inappropriate. Therefore, confirmed records for A. kashmirensis include only India.
