FIGURE 2. Hippothoa catophilia n. sp., NIWA 132781 (holotype): A, a pair of ovicellate zooids showing the apical ooecial pseudopore(s); B, early astogeny, showing a kenozooidal ancestrula (an), which has directly budded two ovicellate zooids (part of one at lower left and another to the right) and two autozooids (middle left and distal); the distal zooid has also budded an ovicellate zooid. Plesiothoa densa n. sp., NIWA 132848 (paratype): C, hippothoiform autozooids, plus zooeciules and ovicellate zooids; D, a more-crowded part of the paratype. Background darkened in A, B, D to show profiles of internodes and/or zooids clearly. Scalebars: A–C, 200 μm; D, 500 μm.
