Gigantidas coseli Saether, Little, Campbell, Marshall, Collins & Alfaro 2010

Description

Gigantidas coseli Saether, Little, Campbell, Marshall, Collins & Alfaro, 2010

(Fig. 4)

Gigantidas coseli Saether et al., 2010: 21; figs. 4B, C, 8–10, 17.

Material. One specimen from Moonlight North (Y16/f0694), L4203 (holotype; Fig. 4), UOA.

Remarks. Saether et al. (2010) originally described G. c o s e l i with unknown details of the anterior adductor scar. Further study of the holotype reveals that the anterior adductor scar is situated in the extreme anterior part of the shell, has a moderately strongly impressed anterior margin that closely follows the anterior margin of the shell, probably has a weaker posterior margin (seen weakly in one specimen, Fig. 4), and is rather narrow. These anterior adductor scar features are typical for the genus.
