Type species: Aega polita Stimpson, 1853; original designation Bruce 1981.
Composition: P. concharum (Stimpson 1853); P. eximia (Hansen 1890); P. haneyi Riseman & Brusca 2002; P. impostor Riseman & Brusca 2002; P. i m p re s s a (Harger 1883); P. microphthalma (Hoek 1882); P. polita (Stimpson 1853); P. tricarinata Riseman et al. 2001; P. w i c k s t e n a e Wetzer et al. 1987.
Species excluded from Politolana sensu stricto (according to Riseman & Brusca 2002): P. crosnieri Bruce 1996; P. d a s y p r i o n Bruce 1991; P. obtusispina (Kensley 1975).
