ЭКФРАСИС В СТРУКТУРЕ РОМАНА А.И. СОЛЖЕНИЦЫНА «В КРУГЕ ПЕРВОМ»

Description

The article is devoted to the study of the ekphrastic components of
Solzhenitsyn’s novel “The First Circle”. The approaches to the study of ekphrasis
in contemporary humanitarian discourse are considered. As ekphrasis is a
representation in the literary work of works of other forms of art, it is significantly expanded
narrative space. Some ekphrases of the paintings in the novel by A.I.
Solzhenitsyn “The First Circle” are described in the article. Peculiarities of the
influence of ekphrases on the recipient are determined.
The description of Kondrashev-Ivanov’s paintings is not only organically
included in the fabric of the narrative but also allows us to expand significantly
the scope of the work, drawing the reader from the closed circle of Marfi no
special prison to the world of art, beauty and aesthetics. The boundaries of
specific historical time are blurred and passed into eternity bringing the work to
a qualitatively new level prompting the reader to a deep moral search. The theme
of struggle, chivalry, nobility pervades the novel by A.I. Solzhenitsyn “The First
Circle” as evidenced by the ekphrastic components of the work.
The duality of perception of the artist’s paintings by Gleb Nerzhin that
indirectly transfers this attitude to the work of Kondrashev to the reader in
general and is integral and important for the dialogized structure of the novel.
