Demobase: Design and Modelling for improved Battery Safety and Efficency

Although Electric vehicles are now at their third generations the engineering of the battery pack remains far the most important aspect to be considered to minimise the impact of temperature excursions on batteries lifetime, EVs range, their comfort-performance and environmental impact. Large differences exist amongst the current EVs on sales and it is now clear that the thermal conditioning of the battery pack starts from the design of the chassis. The need of increasing the battery capacity (range) asks for a specific engineering of the lower part of the chassis (floor) which has to be conceived to allocate has many battery cells as possible without limiting the liveable volume of the vehicle.
