Description

Genus Phanagenia Banks, 1933

Phanagenia Banks, 1933: 18.

Type species: Phanagenia osceola Banks, 1933 (= Phanagenia bombycina (Cresson, 1867)), by original designation.

Diagnosis. The genus Phanagenia clearly differs from the genus Auplopus Spinola, 1842 and other genera of the tribe Ageniellini by combination of the following characters: fifth tarsomere beneath with spines in middle; T1 with lateral crest on each side.

Distribution. The African region: Madagascar (Banks 1940); Nearctic region: the United States (Banks 1933); the Oriental region: Indonesia (Saussure 1867), the Philippines (Banks 1934), Singapore (Banks 1938), Sri Lanka (Wahis 1992), China: Taiwan, Guangdong and Yunnan (Tsuneki 1989 and new data); the Palaearctic region: China (Beijing, Hebei and Inner-Mongolia) (new data).
