Abstract (English)
In this research, the effect of family involvement on the academic success of first grade primary school students in the teaching process was examined in terms of the opinions of the primary school teachers. The research was carried out using qualitative research designs with the primary school teachers who have at least 5 years of teaching experience in the state schools in İstanbul province in 2019-2020 academic year. Data collected through semi-structured interviews were analyzed through content analysis. When the findings were evaluated, it was found that the primary school teachers used other lesson hours for this purpose, in order to reach the first literacy gains, that this situation had a negative effect on the general academic success of the students, that the parental involvement in the teaching process was important and has academic success enhancing effect, therefore families must be supported with family education studies.
