Genus Ahrenserica Allsopp & Schoolmeesters, new replacement name

Type species. Orthoserica fulvastra Brenske, 1902.Orthoserica Brenske, 1900: 79 (Insecta: Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Sericinae: Sericini: Sericina). Preoccupied by Orthoserica Warren, 1896 (Insecta: Lepidoptera: Geometridae: Sterrhinae).
Etymology. The name retains the stem used in many genera of Sericini and prefixes it with Dirk Ahrens’ surname in recognition of his significant contributions to the understanding of the Sericinae.
Gender. Feminine.
Diagnosis. Brenske (1900, 1902).
Composition. Ahrenserica fulvastra (Brenske, 1902) new combination.
Distribution. Mali.
