The Relationship between Organizational Climate and Employee Health and Safety Culture Perception in Nurses

Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between nurses’ organizational climate
and the perception of employee health and safety culture.
Method: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 276 nurses working at Atatürk University
Health Research and Application Center between November and December 2020. Personal
information form, “Organizational Climate Scale and Employee Health and Safety Culture Scale
(EHSCS)” were used as data collection tools. Research data were evaluated with normal distribution
fit test, student t test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis.
Results: It was determined that the nurses got the highest score from the Organizational Climate Scalehierarchy sub-dimension and the EHSCS-infection prevention sub-dimension. Organizational Climate
Scale; A statistically significant relationship was found between commitment, teamwork, supportive
climate, human relations, job satisfaction, communication and innovative climate and the EHSCS subdimensions, positively and negatively, with negative communication (p<.01).
Conclusion: It has been determined that the perceived organizational climate affects the employee
health and safety culture perception positively, except for the stress and negative communication
dimensions.
