Description

Fornax bicolor (Melsheimer, 1844)

In Canada, this rarely encountered eucnemid species was previously recorded from Québec. In the United States, F. bicolor has been taken from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin (Otto 2020). Kentucky is confirmed as a new state record. One specimen was taken from a Malaise trap. KENTUCKY: USA: Kentucky: Madison Co./ Berea, Coll. For. Horse Cove Rd./ 37.57165°N 84.21799°W / 15–22.vii. 2013, 269m MT trap 2/ K118 Chapman & Stedenfeld (1, CUAC).
