Description

Ficomila guinensis Lotfalizadeh & Rasplus sp. n.

(Figs 39–40)

Type material examined. Holotype ♀: Guinea, Mifergui, ex syconia of Ficus artocarpoides, 6.v.1993, Rasplus J.-Y. leg. Deposited in CBGP. Paratypes: same data as holotype, 14♀.

Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality in Guinea.

Diagnosis. Body female of mainly dark brown (Fig. 39A). Flagellum with fu2–fu4 longer than broad, fu5 as long as broad (Fig. 39B). Mesoscutum densely coriaceous with sparse umbilicate punctures (Fig. 40A). Propodeum with a distinct smooth median band and a short median carina (Fig. 40B). Gaster compressed laterally, dorsally angulate (Fig. 40D).

Description of holotype ♀ (Figs 39–40). Length 3.68 mm. Body black or dark brown (Fig. 39A), except gaster ventrally, pronotum anterolaterally and femora distally brown and tibia, tarsomeres, femora distally, scape yellowish; antennal mostly dark brown (Fig. 39B); fore wing with a dark brown spot below mv (Fig. 40E); lower margin of mv obscured by dark brown spot, dark brown spot reaching base of mv; megastar uniformly coloured.

Head 1.3× as broad as high [HW 260 & HH 200] (Fig. 39C); in dorsal view transverse, 2× as broad as long [HW 260 & HL 130] (Fig. 39D); face coriaceous with sparse punctures, vertex mostly coriaceous; malar space 0.45× length of eye [ms 45 EH 101]; malar sulcus distinct, straight (Fig. 39C); lower margin of gena sinuous, edged but not carinate; antennal toruli widely separated, interantennal space not raised, carinate laterally; scrobal depression smooth, reaching the median ocellus, not carinate on margin; POL 1.47× as long as OOL [POL 50 & OOL 34] (Fig. 39D); temple rounded, 0.23× the eye length (in dorsal view) [TL 26 & EL 112].

Antenna. Scape not reaching median ocellus, 3.42× as long as broad [SL 82 & SW 24]; fu1 1.72× as long as broad [fu1L 50 & fu1W 29], distinctly longer than pedicel, bulging dorsally; funicular (fu2–fu4) with two or three rows of mps; fu2–fu4 slightly longer than broad; fu5 as long as broad (Fig. 39B).

Mesosoma weakly arched dorsally, 1.45× as long as wide (165:115), with superficial sculpture (Fig. 40A); pronotum with sparse umbilicate punctures; mesodiscrimen with a ring-like process, adjacent to mesocoxa; mesoscutum 0.5× as long as wide (55:110), 0.6× longer than length of pronotal collar (55:95), sparsely umbilicate, coriaceous-reticulate anteriorly; notauli conspicuous, slightly obliterated by mesoscutum sculpture; prepectus bare, with raised sculpture; mesoscutellum distinctly umbilicate laterally and coriaceous medially; propodeum (Fig. 40B) with deep median depression, with a smooth median band, without any median carina, lateral rows of areolae long and extending at least over posterior half of propodeum, inverted U-shaped basal carina, lateral branches relatively straight, width of basal carinae less than 0.5× width of nucha.

Fore wing with short marginal fringe, apically subtruncate (pointed anteriorly); dark brown spot below mv; basal cell bare or nearly so; mv slightly enlarged, normally broadened, in lower margin concave, stv curved up; pmv not distinct; ventral side of costal cell sparsely setose, dorsally bare; speculum present; parastigmal bristles absent (Figs 40E, F).

Legs. Fore coxa without depression on frontal surface, hind coxa bare basodorsally; fore (30:11) and hind femora (40:15); hind tibia dorsally with more 10 setae, setae shorter than tibia width basally.

Metasoma. Petiole shorter than broad dorsally, ventral transverse carina between petiole and St1 present. Metasoma 1.5× as long as wide (165:110) (Fig. 40C), longer than mesosoma, strongly compressed laterally and dorsally angulate (Fig. 40D); ventral transverse carina between petiole and St1 present; petiole in dorsal view not longer than wide, shorter than half-length of hind coxa; tergites finely sculptured; Gt4 (in lateral view) slightly as long as Gt3, sinuous posteriorly; Gt5 mostly covering Gt6, sinuous posteriorly; ovipositor upturned (Fig. 40C).

Male. Unknown.

Variation. Length 2.41–4.05 mm.

Host plant. Ficus artocarpoides.

Geographical distribution. Guinea.
