Description
Anguilla marmorata Quoy & Gaimard 1824 — Giant mottled eel
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from St. Mathias by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 81), based on ZMH 12024. WAM material from Kavieng District.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 4.—General distribution: South and East African watersheds and adjacent oceanic waters east to Caroline, Mariana and Marquesas islands, north to southern Japan, south to South Australia and New Caledonia, 0–3000 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
