Description

The Northern Sea Route is a short route connecting the countries of Asia and Europe through the Arctic Ocean. In recent years, interest in using this route has increased significantly, especially after the melting of Arctic ice, making it, according to economic calculations, even more competitive than the Suez Canal route. Therefore, quite a lot of research has been devoted to the study of the Northern Sea Route. The narrative associated with these studies and the changes in its context can be traced by analyzing the publications of the authors and assessing their main content. Our work is aimed at analyzing the characteristics of the transformation of attitudes towards the Northern Sea Route in dynamics and to identifying the main horizons that this route opens up. To achieve the goal, the we used the scientometric research method. The Northern Sea Route development affects political, economic and environmental aspects, which explains the positive dynamics of word mentions in scientific publications in 2013-2022. Issues of expanding cooperation with Asian countries in this context, and primarily China and India, as well as the construction of new ports and other infrastructure facilities, are of particular interest to both Russian and foreign authors.
