Value-Based Approach to Support Technical Debt Management in Software Development
Description
The concept of technical debt (TD) refers to the problems faced during the software development process, where the process tasks are not performed properly. Both industry and academia have given significant attention to TD research throughout the software development lifecycle. However, we still know little about the motivation surrounding the actions that make stakeholders contract or pay a debt. Value-based software engineering is a research area that emphasizes value thinking in software-related decisions, so we can optimize decision-making at all levels to meet or reconcile the explicit objectives of the stakeholders involved. This work aims to present an approach that focuses on the value propositions that the main stakeholders of a software development process use during the selection and fix of technical debts. From the elaborated theory, We want to propose a approach to support TD management and evaluate it through case studies with academia and industry.
