Description

Stenichneumonopsis albifasciatus Heinrich, 1934, new ♁

Material. Indonesia: W Bali, nr. Negara, rainforest above Batuagung, c 575 m, 1 ♂ 4–13.xii.1991, Mal. trap 1, leg. C. van Achterberg, RMNH´91 (Leiden).

Description. ♂. Body length 12.6 mm.

Head. Flagellum with 36 flagellomeres, bristle-shaped; 1 st flagellomere 3.2 × longer than wide, all flagellomeres longer than wide. Tyloids absent. Temple short, strongly and roundly narrowed behind eye. OED 1.1 × and OOD 1.2 × ocellar diameter. Frons rugose-punctate. Face and clypeus densely punctate, ± shining. Clypeus almost flat, 2.3 × wider than long; apical margin blunt, slightly concave. Mandible with two teeth, lower tooth small and moderately bent inwards (by 45°). Malar space 0.7 × as long as width of mandibular base. Gena densely punctate. Genal carina reaching mandibular base.

Mesosoma. Mesoscutum very densely punctate, ± dull. Notaulus impressed in frontal 0.3. Mesopleuron and metapleuron densely punctate, partly rugose-punctate; speculum large, smooth. Juxtacoxal carina present. Scutellum moderately elevated, about as long as wide, densely punctate, with complete lateral carina. Propodeum completely carinated, spiracles slit-shaped. Carination see figure. Legs rather slender; hind femur 4.0 × longer than wide. Claws not pectinate. Areolet almost quadrangular, frontal distance between veins 2rs-m and 3rs-m 1.0 × their diameter. Vein 1cu-a slightly antefurcal by 1.0 × its width.

Metasoma. Petiole about as wide as high. Postpetiole distinctly widened, without latero-median carina; median field moderately elevated, finely aciculate and with some coarse punctures; lateral field punctate. 2 nd tergite 1.2 × wider than long. Gastrocoelus strongly impressed, with oblique ridges. Thyridium very large, transverse, 1.9 × wider than the interval between thyridia. 2 nd to 4 th tergites densely rugose-punctate. Following tergites with superficial punctuation. 2 nd to 4 th sternites with median folds. Apical margin of hypopygium straight.

Colour. Black. Flagellomeres 9–18, palps, base of mandible, labrum, clypeus and face, wide orbits (except interruption at malar space), scape ventrally. Ivory are collar, upper margin and ventral edge of pronotum, apical spot of tegula, subtegular ridge, wide band on ventral mesopleuron, scutellum except black median band, postscutellum, upper division of metapleuron, large posterolateral spots of propodeum, hind margins of all tergites, fore and coxae and trochanters, and dorsal spot of hind coxa. Hind coxa and trochanter otherwise black; legs otherwise reddish; hind femur black in apical 0.3; hind tibia black, with ivory subbasal band; mid and hind tarsi black. Wings hyaline; pterostigma black.

Distribution. Known from Sulawesi, new record for Bali.
