George T. Sipos, West University of Timisoara Gannon University

George T. Sipos is Associate Professor of Japanese Language, Literature and Culture and Founding Director of the Center for East Asian Studies at West University of Timisoara, in Romania, and Executive Director of Global Enrollment and Engagement at Gannon University, in the United States. His research focuses on the intersectionality of literature, politics and society in modern Japan, as well as on transcultural studies of modernity in Japan and Eastern Europe. He is a literary translator from Japanese into Romanian with several volumes published from the works of Akutagawa Ryunosuke, Dazai Osamu, Kawabata Yasunari and Mishima Yukio, among others and the co-editor of Tenkō: Cultures of Political Conversion in Transwar Japan (Routledge, 2021).
