Summary

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) data release for the geologic map of the Arlington quadrangle, Carbon County, Wyoming, is a Geologic Map Schema (GeMS, 2020)-compliant version of the printed geologic map published in USGS Geologic Map Quadrangle GQ-643 (Hyden and others, 1967). The database represents the geology for the 35,776-acre map plate at a publication scale of 1:24,000. Purpose

The purpose of this data release is to provide Geologic Map Schema (GeMS)-compliant data for the geologic map of the Arlington quadrangle, Carbon County, Wyoming. Conversion and publication of the geologic map in modern GIS format (for example, as an ArcGIS geodatabase) is considered to be foundational and high-priority by the USGS Mineral Resources Program (MRP) to facilitate on-going research and other activities by the MRP pertaining to critical mineral deposits as well as to other geologic and geophysical mapping efforts, petrologic studies, and mineral resource assessments. These data reside in the National Geologic Map Database (NGMDB) distributed archive of standardized geoscience information for the nation.
