Thank you! I was gratified to see the pendulum has swung and we are once again seeing both culture-based techniques like MPNs integrated with non-culture-based approaches. Can you give us a sense of what additional insight you gained for this (and future) studies from using both lines of investigation for your systems? Do you have any idea of the geochemical conditions (pH, cation content, mineral phases..) that stimulate growth of these sulfidogenic bacteria?

Hi, thank you for sharing a really interesting study. From the MPN study of Lollar et al. 2019 SRB's were also similarly identified in the deep subsurface. However, despite their presence (and the availability of molecular hydrogen and simple alkanes), the H2S was below detection. As a result, I was wondering under what conditions might you expect hydrogen sulfide to form in these environments?
