ABSTRACT

This chapter covers three major subtopics: (1) An overview of approaches to pedagogy in composition; (2) principles for designing a writing curriculum and syllabi for writing courses; and (3) suggestions for developing strategic writers who can (a) manage their own writing processes successfully (b) use genre/audience awareness to communicate successfully in a wide range of academic and professional writing tasks and (c) monitor and critically evaluate their own production at both content/language levels.
