ABSTRACT

The level of bullying and victimisation in schools is now being recognised as a problem which needs to be addressed. The survey service is designed for junior, middle and secondary schools interested and concerned about this issue. It provides a package of information about the extent of the problem in their school in particular, about where the problems are located, and other information which could be of use in planning a school response to the issue. There are two versions of the questionnaire - one for junior/middle schools, suitable for children aged 8 to 11 years; and one for secondary schools, suitable for children aged over. The primary use of the survey is for the benefit of schools. However it is also useful for research purposes, in two ways. First, it can start to build up a national picture of school variations, and suggest reasons for these. Second, it can be used to assess the effects of interventions.
