Coach would tell you, among many competencies, that a true organizational leader:

Has followers gained through earned trust and respect

Considers followers as partners in work and shares rewards; helps and encourages those under him/her to grow; has faith in people, believes in them, and draws the best out in them

Has no ego

Is a good listener

Is a role model—whether he or she wishes to be one

Has a responsibility to conduct himself or herself for the betterment of society as a whole

Is a self-starter, creates plans, and sets them in motion

Laughs and can laugh at himself or herself

Is interested in finding the best way, not in having his or her own way

Understands his or her strengths and devote energy to improving weaknesses
