ABSTRACT

The discussion on megatrends in the food economy has intensified in recent years. On the one hand, we are witnessing the growth of the human population, which is leading to an increasing demand for food provision. Following this trend, agriculture is producing more and more food raw materials to meet the increasing demands, but at the same time, it is exerting an increasingly heavy toll on the environment and struggling with dwindling resources. One solution that can help address the growing challenges facing the food economy is modern technologies that are increasingly penetrating traditional sectors of the economy. This chapter presents new concepts of agricultural production. We present modern solutions in agriculture with a special focus on smart and precision farming. Then, discuss its benefits and key challenges for market stakeholders during their implementation.
