ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores how the media ignores or misrepresents LGBTQ+ people in the criminal legal system and beyond, regardless of an individual or group's involvement with crime or victimization. It explores the failures of Immigration and Customs Enforcement as related specifically to immigration and nationality vis-à-vis trans women. The book addresses, trans women of color continue to experience physical and mental harm insomuch as they may be denied effective medical treatment while detained that ultimately results in their deaths. It focuses on intersectionality reveals insights into how identity and social location impact how people are treated in the criminal legal system and the media. The book deals with teachable moments and/or key takeaways the reader should consider, thereby encouraging critical thinking, application, and action.
