ABSTRACT
Some issues about definite descriptions are explored in the framework of type-logical grammar (tlg), where descriptions may be treated in the Frege-Strawson manner as terms of type i, or in Russellian style as quantifiers, of type (ib)b. Two supposed ways of using descriptions that are not countenanced by Russell or Frege, referential use and predicative use, are also discussed.
