ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to cover ‘high level’ performance indicators, or metrics, computed on top of the kinematic and physiological variables. Several metrics that have been used to capture players’ performance will be described and algorithmically delineated, including individual metrics, such as the fractional-order coefficient of a player’s trajectory, group metrics, such as the effective area of play of the team, and network-related metrics, such as microscopic, mesoscopic, and macroscopic network measures. Every metric will be illustrated, and their representativeness discussed, through multiple examples.
