ABSTRACT

The Internet has transformed the way that the general public communicates and the way that governments support critical infrastructure and sensitive systems. This convergence has created an opportunity for disruptive cyberattacks and political expression by civilians and nation-states alike. There is a need to understand what factors would impel individuals to engage in such attacks against their home government as well as other nations. This study will assess the factors associated with a willingness to engage in cyberattacks using an international sample of college students. The implications of this study for law enforcement and policy-makers will be discussed in depth.
