Approaches To Conflict Management Among Transport Associations In Oyo State, Nigeria

Abstract



This paper examines how conflicts arising from the daily operations of transport associations in Nigeria are resolved. The study was hindered by time; economic factors and uncooperative attitude of respondents. The study was limited to Oyo State, Nigeria where 126 transporters were selected using stratified random sampling technique. It was found that, the level of conflict among Nigeria Transport Associations are not the same and that conflicts are not predictable as revealed in the Regression Analysis. It was also found that individual characteristics assignment personality, attitude, fear, anger, resentment, domestic problem, goals and objectives; organizational characteristic (contextual and structural) job specializations, expertise, discretion and organization policies, reward systems, physical environment are some of the factors that cause conflict in various organization
