ASSOCIATE EDITOR (SECTION OF VALVULAR HEART DISEASE), DR. DAE-HEE KIM

Dr. Dae-Hee Kim is an associated professor of medicine at Ulsan University and a cardiologist affiliated with Asan Medical Center (largest hospital in South Korea). His expertise in multimodality cardiac imaging including echocardiography, CT and MRI and valvular heart disease will surely serve well in our journal. He graduated from Seoul National University, School of Medicine. He continued his training at the Department of Internal Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital as an intern and a resident and became a certified member of the Korean Board of Internal Medicine. He completed his fellowship training in the Division of Cardiology at Seoul National University Hospital. After earning his PhD degree during this fellowship period in February 2009, he joined a faculty member of the Division of Cardiology at Asan Medical Center since 2010. He has been published more than 100 SCI(E) papers, which encompass top peer-review journals such as Circulation and JACC CV imaging as a primary or corresponding author. He won the Young Investigator Award at the Korean Society of Circulation Congress in 2009 and was Samuel A Levine Young Clinical Investigator Award finalist in AHA scientific session 2014. He spent educational leave at the echocardiography laboratory of Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA, as postdoctoral research fellow between Feb 2016 and Feb 2018.

Dr. Seung-Pyo Lee is an experienced cardiologist who is clinically interested in valvular heart disease, various cardiomyopathies and especially, inherited and/or genetic cardiovascular disease. He graduated Seoul National University, School of Medicine, where he earned his MD degree, and completed his internship and residency training at the Department of Internal Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital. After passing the board certificate examination of the Korean Board of Internal Medicine, he continued his 2 years' cardiology fellowship training at Seoul National University Hospital. He was appointed as assistant professor of the Department of Internal Medicine at the same institution on 2011 and then stepped up to associate professor on 2015. He also served as a visiting professor at the Stanford Center for Inherited Cardiovascular Disease, Stanford University, USA from 2016 to 2017.

Dr. Lee's research focuses on development of novel imaging techniques to understand the process of ventricular and valvular remodeling noninvasively. As an active physician in the echocardiography laboratory, he has extensive experience in multiple imaging modalities, especially (parametric) cardiovascular MR and molecular imaging. He also uses these technologies to accurately assess rare primary myocardial disease, a set of orphan diseases that is difficult to assess with the currently used clinical imaging tests. As authors of more than 80 SCI(E) papers, he has served as ad hoc reviewers of several journals such as the American Journal of Cardiology, Circulation Cardiovascular Imaging, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, to name a few. He has been awarded as the Young Investigator Award in the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (2014) and the Seoul National University Hospital (2016). He has also been awarded an excellence in authorship award from JACC Cardiovascular Imaging (2016) and also a gold star reviewer from the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (2018).

He will serve the JCVI as an associate editor. His unique expertise as a researcher, especially at the niche between cardiology and radiology and also extensive experience as a physician will bring the journal unique and novel insights. We are pleased to have him join our editorial team.
