Description

This report presents findings from a mixed methods study involving qualitative interviews and a heuristic analysis of the Horticulture Industry Network’s (HIN’s) website. Interviews were conducted with key stakeholders in January 2017 to explore participants’ experiences with the HIN website, including their information and technology needs. The research team also conducted a heuristic analysis of the HIN website in January 2017 to evaluate the site’s design using formalised usability criteria.

The study results demonstrate the need for the HIN team to better define the website’s target audience(s) and to focus communication efforts towards providing content that best meets the audience(s)’s information needs. The findings highlight key areas in which the HIN website can be improved for usability, accessibility, and awareness; these findings will be used to inform a website redesign process and improvements to the content management system (CMS).
