TECHNIQUE FOR LABELING INDIVIDUAL PISSODES STROBI (COLEOPTERA: CURCULIONIDAE) FOR MARK-RECAPTURE STUDIES

Abstract

A simple nontoxic technique to mark and reference the white pine weevil Pissodes strobi (Peck) is described. This marking technique was used to track the movement of individuals to the cohort level through time and space in a young white spruce plantation.

Résumé

Une technique simple et non toxique de marquage individuel a été mise au point pour marquer et reconnaître des Charançons du pin blanc (Pissodes strobi) (Peck). On en trouvera ici la description. Cette technique a permis de suivre les déplacements d’individus et de cohortes dans le temps et dans l’espace dans une plantation de jeunes pins blancs.
