Abstract

Materialist dialectic exerts power. Hegel places everything in the past and recapitulates in absolute knowledge the stages of a non-empirical history. Thus, he can be reproached only with confirming existing conditions, in which the future is known and is seen as objectively written already and in which violence directed toward its realization is consequently sanctioned. Whatever deviates objectively from this future must be eliminated from it. The science of the object challenges experience.

Today, however, power is unpopular: The monopoly of knowledge, “ideology,” and “necessary concepts” is respected only by the philosophy students of the U.E.C. [a radical student group, ed.].
