초록

In turning operation the effectiveness of the process is completely governed by the selection of the proper tool and its geometry. The right selection of tool geometry will provide optimized turning process parameters for minimizing the surface roughness. This work focuses on optimization of the surface roughness using response optimization while turning AISI1040 steel. Toolinserts are used to position the cutting tool and the tool geometries are considered as the process parameters. The minimizationof the surface roughness is considered. 27 experiments are conducted and the surface roughness is measured and optimizedusing the taguchi technique. The main effects plots and ANOVA table are discussed in this work. Also response optimizationis carried out and the composite desirability is determined and analysed.
