본 연구는 개별 경제주체의 다양한 경제적 선호가 Big 5로 대표되는 성격유형과 어떤 관계가 있는지를 분석하고 있다. 이를 위해 한국인의 인구구성을 대표하는 1만명의 샘플로 구성된 연세-용운 설문조사 데이터를 활용하였으며, 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 성실성이 높고 신경성이 낮은 개인일수록 미래할인도가 낮으며 이로 인해 미래의 보수에 대해 낮은 할인율을 적용하는 선택을 하였다. 성실성이 높고 개방성 및 외향성이 낮은 개인은 위험기피도가 높았다. 개방성, 외향성, 신경성이 높은 개인은 부의 호혜성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 외향성과 신경성이 높으며 성실성과 친화성이 낮은 개인일수록 집단주의 성향이 강하게 나타난 반면 불평등기피도는 낮게 나타났다.

This paper investigates the relationship between economic preferences and personality traits represented by Big 5. To this end, we use the Yonsei-Yongwoon survey data comprising of 10,000 participants, which are representative of the Korean population. We found the following results. First, participants with high conscientiousness and low neuroticism exhibited low future discounting, thereby applying low discounting factors on future payoffs. Second, participants with high conscientiousness, low openness, and low extraversion exhibited high risk aversion. Third, participants with high openness, extraversion, neuroticism exhibited high negative reciprocity. Finally, participants with high extraversion and neuroticism, and low conscientiousness and agreeableness exhibited high collectivism and low inequity aversion.
