Scattering of Retarded Wave Fields by a Point Acoustic Inhomogeneity

Abstract

The scattering of a monochromatic wave by an inhomogeneity with the small wave size is considered. The scattering coefficients are introduced, and sets of their allowable values are obtained with and without absorption inside the inhomogeneity. The solution to the inverse scattering problem is analyzed for different values of the scattering coefficients, from the viewpoint of the adequacy of the reconstruction result and its stability.
