Separation and characterization of amphiphilic humic acid fractions

  • Published:
Moscow University Soil Science Bulletin Aims and scope

Abstract

Humic substances (HSs) derived from an alluvial gley soil were fractionated by salting-out with ammonium sulfate. Fractionated HSs differed in their relative hydrophobicity. It was assumed that hydrophobic properties of HSs are determined not only by the relative content of amphiphilic fragments in their molecules, but also by their conformation.
