Hospital libraries in Taiwan have faced the challenge of budget reduction and raising health sciences journal prices in recent years. In addition, the development and widespread of electronic journals facilitated the hospital libraries to built up the digital library consortia. As the result, they can corporate everyone's power to purchase more electronic resources in a reasonable price. This article first described the status of famous medical library consortia in the Sates, Canada, and China. And then the focus was in the development of medical library consortia in Taiwan, by introducing the star up, electronic resources, and current status of the seven biggest hospital library consortia in Taiwan. At the end, five suggestions were proposed base on the author's working experiences to serve as the reference for future direction.
