Chronic ethanol intoxication is complicated by damage to almost all organs and systems of the body. According to modern medical and biological literature, the structure of the prostate in chronic alcohol intoxication not enough researched. The purpose of research – to study the features of remodeling of the structures of the prostate gland of experimental animals at conditions of chronic alcohol intoxication. Methods and Material. The structures of the prostate gland of 60 sexually mature white male rats, which were divided into 2 groups, were investigated using a complex of morphological methods. The 1-st group included 30 experimentally intact animals, the 2-nd – 30 rats that were in conditions of chronic alcohol intoxication, in which the animals were injected intragastrically with a 30 % ethanol solution at the rate of 2 ml per 100 g of body weight for 28 days once per a day. A month after the start of the experiment, the experimental animals were euthanized by bloodletting under thiopental anesthesia. The area of the glands, the height of epitheliocytes, the area of the nucleus of epitheliocytes, the area of their cytoplasm, the nuclear-cytoplasmic ratio in these cells, and the stromalparenchymal ratio in the organ under study were determined histostereometrically on micropreparations of the prostate gland. Quantitative indicators were processed statistically. Results and Discussuon. The conducted studies established that alcohol intoxication led to pronounced changes in the structures of the prostate gland. Thus, the area of the prostate glands decreased by 5.2, and the height of epitheliocytes decreased by 4 times (p<0.001). Uneven changes in the spatial characteristics of the nucleus and cytoplasm of gland epitheliocytes led to changes in their nuclear-cytoplasmic ratios, which under the given conditions of the experiment increased by 2.5 times (p<0.001). The stromal-parenchymal ratio in the prostate gland under conditions of alcohol intoxication increased by 1.6 times (p<0.001), indicating a marked increase in the stroma in the organ under study. The conducted studies and the obtained results indicate that chronic ethanol intoxication leads to pronounced structural changes in the prostate gland, which was characterized by atrophy of the glandular epithelium, disruption of nuclear-cytoplasmic relations in epitheliocytes, a decrease in the glandular component, and a pronounced growth of the muscle-elastic stroma.
