Abstract:
We present data for 64 bulk rock samples from the Marianas volcanic arc. The samples were collected during a MARGINS field campaign in 2004 (PIs: Fisher, Hilton, Hauri) from Anatahan, Alamagan, Agrigan, Asuncion, Gugan, Maug, Pagan, Sarigan, Uracas and Guam islands. We report here major elements (determined by ICP-ES following LiBO2 flux fusions) and trace elements (determined by ICP-MS following HF-HNO3 digestions) are reported. The objective of the work is to provide context for volatile studies, including both volcanic gases and melt inclusions. Scoria samples were specifically targeted and thus this is the most comprehensive dataset that exists for the geochemistry of Mariana arc mafic tephra.
