“Inclined levee body type breakwater” is a structure that has inclined reinforced concrete boards supported by steel piles. The principal features are as follows, a) Horizontal wave force and reflection wave are less than curtain wall type breakwater such as caisson. b) Ground improvement for the poor subsoil is not necessary. c) Tidal current is not so much obstructed.
This type breakwaters were constructed in some fishing ports, for example Yobito (Hokkaido Pref) and Otsushima (Yamaguchi Pref.), where wave conditions were calm, and poor subsoil were layered.
This paper indicates the hydraulic experiments for grasping the characteristics of wave force and the most suitable figure of inclined levee body, to apply for the sea area that the deep water wave effects in, and mentions about the investigation of jacket structure as a support.
