Abstract

In this study, the behavioral intention method (Fujii & Gäffing, 2003) was applied for travel demand forecasting of newly installed bus route. The behavioral intention method measures, at first, peoples' behavioral intentions with respect to behavioral modification induced by implementation of transport measures, the travel behavior after the policy implementation is then predicted based on the intention data, and the predicted behaviors are finally aggregated to provide travel demand. The data analysis indicated that the traditional travel demand forecasting mode predicted as much as three times of travel demand forecasting by the behavioral intention method.
