본 연구는 청소년의 자아존중감이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향에서 공동체 의식의 매개효과를 연구하기 위하여 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시한 ‘한국아동·청소년패널조사(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey: KCYPS)'의 중학교 1학년 패널 조사 중 5차년도(2014년) 자료를 분석 자료로 사용하였다. 본 패널 조사에서 조사된 사례 수는 2,091명이었으나, 응답이 부실한 사례를 제외한 2,052명을 본 연구의 분석 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과 자아존중감이 높을수록 다문화수용성도 높았으며, 자아존중감이 높을수록 공동체 의식도 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 공동체 의식은 자아존중감과 다문화수용성을 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 자아존중감 및 다문화 수용성과 공동체 의식을 높이기 위한 실천적 제언과 후속연구에 대한 제언이 이루어졌다.

In order to examine the mediating effect of the community sense within the effect of teenagers’ self-respect on their receptiveness to multicultural acceptability, the research used the 5th year (2014) data of the 8th graders panel research from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) as the subject for analysis. The subject of this study is 2,052 cases, excluding the weak responses from the total 2,091 cases acquired by the panel research. The result of this study shows that the community sense rises as highly as self-respect. Also, the community sense has been shown to partly mediate teenagers’ self-respect and receptiveness to multicultural acceptability. Based on there results, a set of practical proposals and suggestions for further research is made in order to enhance self-respect, receptiveness to multicultural acceptability and community sense.
