At the request of the authors, the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of the Journal of Blood Medicine wish to retract the published article.

On review of the data the authors found a number of subject data points had been mistakenly duplicated. On further review it was also determined a number of subject data points were also incorrect. The extent of the duplicated and incorrect data was significant enough for the authors to no longer consider their findings relating to the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia valid. To maintain the integrity of the literature and the subject area the authors requested to have the article retracted.

The authors wish to apologize for the error.
