Materials Selection For Seawater Pumps
Abstract
Materials used in seawater pumps depend upon many factors that include seawater quality, materials limitations and processing characteristics, as well as materials cost and availability. Many newer high alloy stainless steels not widely used a few decades ago have now become standard alloy offerings for seawater pumps. The benefits and limitations associated with materials considerations commonly used for seawater pump, along with a relative ranking associated with overall cost performance and various materials options, shall be reviewed.
