본 연구는 여성은퇴와 관련한 논문의 동향 분석을 통해 관련 분야 연구를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고, 향후 관련 연구의 방향을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 국내 학술지 및 학위논문을 대상으로 총 44편의 논문을 선정하여 연구가 행해진 시기, 연구방법, 학문 분야, 연구대상, 연구주제에 따라 분석하였다. 선행연구의 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 2000년대 중반부터 관련 논문의 수가 증가하는 경향을 보이고 있는데, 이는 조기퇴직과 베이비붐 세대의 은퇴로 인해 은퇴가 사회적 관심사가 되었기 때문이다. 특히 은퇴는 은퇴자 혼자만의 문제가 아니라는 점에서 배우자와 부부의 일방으로서의 여성에 대한 관심이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 연구방법별로는 대부분의 연구가 양적 연구에 편중되어 있었다. 셋째, 학문 분야별로는 사회복지학, 사회과학 일반, 생활과학, 사회학 등 다양한 분야에서 연구가 수행되고 있었다. 여성은퇴 관련 연구의 상당수가 가족 및 부부관계를 대상으로 연구하는 경향이 있는데, 이는 여전히 여성을 가정과 사적 영역에 위치 지우고, 은퇴를 개인적인 경험으로 여기기 때문인 것으로 분석된다. 넷째, 연구대상별로는 여성을 은퇴당사자로 보는 연구가 가장 많은 것으로 나타났지만, 연구의 대부분이 남녀비교에 초점이 맞춰져 있었고, 여성만을 대상으로 조사한 연구는 소수인 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 연구주제별로는 은퇴적응과 은퇴경험을 다루고 있는 연구들이 가장 많았지만, 대부분의 연구들이 은퇴의 적응과정보다는 적응에 영향을 미치는 변인이나 적응의 결과를 보여주는 데에 치중하고 있었다. 특히 여성은퇴당사자의 개인적인 삶의 경험에 대한 연구는 매우 부족한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 추후 젠더를 기반으로 한 연구, 질적 연구방법을 사용한 연구, 가정과 노동시장에서 여성이 직면하고 있는 구조적인 문제를 고려한 연구가 필요하다는 것을 제안한다.
By reviewing a trend of research on women’s retirement shown in academic publications and theses, this work is intended to provide basic information about researches on women’s retirement and to highlight opportunities for future research. To accomplish the purpose, this study analyzed 44 academic publications and theses in the domain of women"s retirement and the analysis was conducted from the perspectives of chronological distribution of the researches, methodology adapted, academic field, the research objects and the research themes. The key findings are as follows: First, there seems a tendency to increase the number of the papers in this domain from the mid-2000s, which is because the retirement due to early resignation and the retirement of the baby boomers became a social concern. In particular, because retirement is not an issue only for retiree, interest in women as spouses and/or concerned parties in married couples, and also, with the increasing number of retired women, women are being subjected to academic research that cannot be overlooked. Second, in terms of research methods, most studies used quantitative research method. Third, with respect to the field of study, relevant researches were being conducted in a variety of fields, such as social welfare, social science, life science, and sociology. A large number of research related to women’s retirement tend to focus on family and married couple relations, which proves that there is still a tendency of positioning women in a family and a private life, and thus the retirement is regarded as a personal experience. Fourth, regarding the objects of research, a majority of the researches saw women as retirees, but most of them was focused on comparing men and women, and only a small number of research dealt with solely women. Fifth, research by topic, covered adjusting to retirement and retirement experience in one of the most, but a greater part of them placed too much emphasis on factors affecting adjusting to retirement and the result after adjustment rather than the process of adjusting to retirement. In particular, research on the experience of the personal life of woman retirees seemed to be extremely insufficient. Based on these findings, this study proposes the necessity of researches based on gender, researches using quantitative methods, and researches considering the structural matters that women face with their household and labor market for future study.
