Overall satisfaction of participants with the use of smart helmets was high (M = 4.20, SD = 0.83), especially on the topics of “Detectable vehicle direction alert performance” and “No distracting during riding and feeling like wearing a regular helmet”. It reflected that after wearing a smart helmet, the participants had an increased sense of safety. Related to the study of Rahman et al. (2020), who studied in AI helmet and stated that a smart helmet saves lives and makes two-wheeler driving safer than ever. Firstly, vehicle direction alert performance was good because having alert signals in both voice and vibrate can warning riding aware of their speeds and harms. Riders may pay more attention on their riding and more focus on subjects and objects on the road. In the topic of no distracting during riding and feeling like wearing a regular helmet can explain by Rusli et al., (2020). Rusli and team provided that one of high risks of ridding accidents was wearing inappropriate gears. This was because riders could have uncomfortable feelings or limitation of movements while riding with inappropriate gears, included helmets (Rusli et al., (2020). Therefore, developing a smart helmet without increasing barriers was another satisfaction for ridders in this study.
The overall feasibility scores of participants with the use of smart helmets were high (M = 4.33, SD = 0.75). In the topics of “Practical use should continue to develop” and “Appropriate as it provides a device against speeding and accident monitoring”. It should be because participants may increase safety perceptions and awareness from wearing a smart helmet. This aligned with the study of Tabary et al. (2021) who provided that a new smart helmet which is a high technology by addressing sensors into a helmet can increase more safety and can decrease risks of accidents or death from two-wheels accidents. Moreover, Ruben et al., (2023) indicated that lack of attention can relate errors of accidents. Ledesma et al., (2023) also claimed that checking mobile phone manually while riding was an often error in riders from their studied. They recommend that decreasing distractions as using cellphone by addressing more utilities or applications could decrease causes of motorcycle accidents.
Promoting and prevention health are a key role of nurses and health care providers because gaining more knowledge to take care of themselves is an excellent strategy that can increase well-being each individual regarding health, economic, and nurses and health care providers’ workload (Karlsson et al., 2020; Lee at al., 2020) Moreover, trauma cases in hospitals mostly were from transportations which were personal vehicles such as cars and motorcycles (Karlsson et al., 2020). Riding motorcycle showed higher injured and death rates because this vehicle needed more protecting gears that can save vital organs, especially helmets (Pinho et al., 2021). Thus, encourage people to wear helmets and provide a safety device such as technology or AI may help riders to get a warning harm while ride a motorcycle.
Technology and AI trend to be programs that people are integrating into daily life in many parts. One of that parts is to developing to be a smart system that uses to evaluates and interprets results (Si et al., 2020). Additionally, smart cellphones have a system that can connect to other devices via wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or applications (Subedi & Pyun, 2020). Wi-Fi and Blue tooth are generally compatible with iOS and Android platforms. Other platforms may need to create an application for paring with AI or systems (Subedi & Pyun, 2020). Undeniable that technology and AI will be a program that use to support life, consist of heath care to develop programs or strategy that suit to modern societies currently (Tselentis, Papadimitriou, & van Gelder, 2023).
Therefore, this study can show that using technology to promote health is valuable in terms of saving life and costs. We recommend that developing a smart helmet by using AI as a program for promoting and preventing riding accidents is feasibility. Moreover, the smart helmet can be a device that can gain more awareness of riders.
