Since KMX=([MX]t–[M+])/[M+]2 in a solution of MX, the KMX value can also be determined by potentiometry with a M+-ISE.
It is assumed that (i) Na+-ISE employed responds to only uncomplexed sodium ion and (ii) the liquid junction potential between the solution of (C2H5)4NCl or (C2H5)4NClO4 and the test solution is constant within experimental errors.
The log KNa(18C6)Pic value was calculated by using the KNa(18C6) value of 100.73 mol−1 dm3 at I=(1–5) × 10−3 mol dm−3. See, Y. Takeda, Y. Mochizuki, M. Tanaka, Y. Kudo, S. Katsuta and, M. Ouchi, J. Incl. Phenom., 33, 217 (1999).
The log KNaPic values (1.02) were independent of [NaPic]t in the range of 0.009–0.06 mol dm−3.
